Buy & Try – Lip Patch

Face patches are all the rage right now! They exist for your under eyes, lips and your whole face. Since Valentine’s day is coming up soon I decided to try out a lip patch and see what all the talk is about!

I went to my favorite pharmacy here in Paris – Citypharma on Rue du Four in the 6th and I found what I was looking for! I bought a lip patch from the brand Collagena (only 2,50 euros, great price considering you can only use the patches once!)

The patch is a hydrogel which contains collagen, hyaluronic acid, honey extract and vitamin E. It claims to hydrate, nourish and plump your lips ~ basically making them luscious! Amazing, right?

The patch is very easy to use. You just take it out of the package and apply it to perfectly fit your lips (clean lips – no makeup!). The patch has an indentation between the top and bottom lip, so make sure that is in the right place when you place the patch on your mouth. The texture is a little hard to explain – it is a sort of gelatin-like texture that feels a little wet, not altogether disagreeable, just maybe a bit odd! Also, the patch is quite big so not only does it cover your mouth, it also covers the skin between the lips and nose and also part of the chin! So definitely apply the patch when you have no makeup on! When you place it on your lips be sure to smooth it out to get any air bubbles out. Then you wait! Leave the patch on 15 to 20 minutes. You can go off and do other things while you wait, the patch sticks to your mouth pretty well (just don’t open your mouth!).

When the 20 minutes is up simply take the patch off and gently massage your lips for about a minute with your finger to help the rest of the serum to penetrate into the lips. And that’s it!

Now for my thoughts:

Although I liked the patch, I did not see a HUGE difference with my before and after. My lips were definitely softer and a little pinker. They tingled slightly for an hour after I took the patch off, but it didn’t bother me, it was only a light tingle. I did find that my top lip (which is usually thinner than my bottom lip) was a little fuller! So I liked that. And when I went to apply lipstick a little later on, I thought my lips looked and felt great!

So overall I liked the lip patch, but don’t think I would need to use it too often. I think it could be a good fix for someone who has chapped lips, because it does moisturize quite well. As for the plumping effect, I saw a slight difference in my upper lip but not a dramatic change. But honestly, for the price I paid (2,50 euros which is the equivalent of about $3) I would probably do the patch once a month just for a deep hydration or before a special occasion.

There are several different brands that make lip patches, with various prices. If you are in the states check out Sephora or Ulta, in France Sephora or in Para-Pharmacies.

So if you are looking to have luscious kissable lips for Valentine’s Day or any occasion for that matter (for someone special or just yourself!) I say YES to the Collagena Lip Patch!

Have you ever used a lip patch? If so, which ones have you tried?

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick ‘Party Line’

I just LOVE this lipstick color! I recommend it to so many clients! It is a beautifully rich, deep, almost burgundy pink. It is in the ‘cremesheen’ line so it is a creamy lipstick with a little shine. It stays on fairly well, especially when paired with a lip liner. It is a color that goes with most skin tones and with either dark or light eyes. You really can’t go wrong when choosing this color!
