Bonjour!
Do you have a mascara that you love but it’s starting to get thick and clumpy and you only bought it two weeks ago? It’s not your fault if it is! Mascara is only made to last 6 months or but, sometimes, certain mascaras start to dry & clump before their time is up, especially voluminous mascaras! Did you know that there is a way to fix that? Yup, that’s right, you don’t have to go out and buy a new one quite yet! Here is an easy way to make your favorite mascara last longer!
There is an easy solution for thick clumpy mascaras: all you need to do is add a few drops of eye drops into the tube! That’s it! What I use is a physiological saline solution from Physiodose, but Visine would also do the trick. Drip about 3 drops into the mascara tube then mix it in with the mascara wand and POOF!
The mascara is as good as new! If 3 drops aren’t enough then add 1 more drop at a time until the consistency is right.
Now, this does NOT mean you can keep your mascara forever (sad, I know!) but you can definitely make it last a bit longer. When your mascara starts to smell strong or starts to irritate your eyes it’s time to throw it out!!
Things to avoid:
-Pumping the mascara wand in and out before applying. This lets air into the tube and dries out the mascara.
-Not closing the mascara tube properly. Sometimes mascara can clump around the where you screw the cap back onto the tube. Be sure to keep this area clean so that air doesn’t leak into the tube
If you’re looking for a mascara, I have two recommendations for you! If you want a voluminous mascara Lancome’s Monsieur Big is on of my favorites at the moment. If you’d like a waterproof mascara, I suggest trying Bobbi Brown’s No Smudge mascara.
Voilà! Please leave me a comment with how that trick worked for you!
Bisous Bisous
